The story of Moses striking a rock once with his rod is one of the strongest proofs that numbers in the Bible hold powerful sacred meanings. Severe punishment was imposed on Moses after he struck twice.

This article explains everything you need to know about the number 4, what the Bible says about it, and its influence on people and events.

The Bible Number 4: What Does It Mean?

Creation is symbolized by the number 4 in the Bible. There is a direct correlation between this number and God’s creative ability.

Genesis is the earliest source of reference to number 4 in the Bible. On the fourth day of creation week, God completed the creation of the ‘material universe.’

His first act was to create the stars, moon, and sun on that day. These three things were created for the world to be illuminated and for the day to be divided.

Day and night marked the passage of time, as days turned into weeks, months, and years. As well as identifying different celebrations and feasts in the Bible, it would be the mark of seasons.

Four elements are essential to everything created: earth, air, fire, and water. According to the Book of Revelations chapter 21, verse 13, there are four major cardinal points on earth: North, South, East, and West.

Moses was also given the 4th commandment on Mount Sinai, which says that we must always keep the Sabbath Day holy. The Book of Genesis directly references creation in this Sabbath Day commandment.

On the 7th day, God rested after creating the world and heavenly bodies in six days. The man was instructed to keep this day holy as a reminder of the completion of creation.

The Bible’s Number 4 represents what?

According to the Bible, the number 4 represents the perfection of God’s creation. There is a resonance with the number 4 in every aspect of creation.

There is evidence in the Book of Revelations 10:11, 5:9, and 13:7 that the number 4 represents the perfect creation. According to these Bible verses, God divided humanity into four groups.

There are four divisions: people, languages, tribes, and nations. Any of these creation divisions can be used to describe humans on earth.

Our language identifies us because it signifies where we come from and who we are.

The tribe recognizes us as well. Certain tribes adopt languages that are not native to them, so people from the same tribe may not speak the same language.

Additionally, humans are identified by their nation, which is typically a combination of similar tribes united under one government.

Finally, humans are recognized as people. God has referred to humans as any of these four categories throughout the Bible.

The number 4 is also a representation of God’s complete revelation.

It means God doesn’t work half-heartedly. You will not suddenly lose contact with him after he helps you for some time.

A clear example of this revelation can be found in the life of Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus. Joseph was visited four times by angels regarding baby Jesus and how to keep him safe, according to the Bible.

Joseph was reassured by the angel in the first dream that Mary was telling the truth about carrying a divine child. According to the angel, Joseph must take Mary back and help her raise her unborn child.

As well as what name to call the baby, he was also given instructions.

During the second dream, Joseph heard from an angel that king Harold intended to kill the child before he grew up when he heard of the birth of a new king.

The third dream was an appearance by an angel telling Joseph in Egypt that he could return to Israel safely.

It is recorded in Matthew 4 that an angel instructed Joseph to go to Nazareth in the fourth and final dream.

Number 4 in the Bible: What is its significance?

In the Bible, the number 4 represents completeness.

New Jerusalem is described in the Bible as having four sides representing the new earth. In the Book of Revelations, the Bible describes the earth as having four corners, as well as four rivers flowing from the Garden of Israel.

When God instructed the priests to construct an altar, he instructed them to construct a structure with four corners and four pillars. As a representation of the completeness of God, altars are still constructed with four corners and four pillars.

Four different gospels provide detailed accounts of Jesus Christ’s life and ministry, one of the most significant significances of number 4 in the New Testament. The four gospels of Jesus are Matthew, Luke, Mark, and John. Jesus is described as a perfect man according to Luke, a servant who suffered for the sins of men according to Mark, a son of God according to John, and a son of David according to Matthew.

Even though all four gospels relate similar stories, some aspects of their stories and vocabulary differ. Still, Christians accept all four gospels as more accurate records of Jesus’s life than any other account. Jesus’ clothes were also divided after his death, symbolized by the number 4. In the aftermath of Christ’s death on the cross of Calvary, four Roman soldiers came forward and tore his clothes into four parts, each taking a piece.
